Description
This is the portico of the historic Hanover Courthouse (c. 1735) in Hanover, Virginia, with a view of Hanover Tavern across the street. In this courthouse 1763, Patrick Henry argued the Parson's Cause case, accusing King George III of tyranny in overturning colonial law without regard to the wishes of his subjects. This is the third oldest courthouse in continuous use in the United States.
